HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – A five-run sixth inning by Southeastern Oklahoma was all the scoring needed Friday evening to hand Northeastern State a 5-1 setback in their season opener.
All the scoring took place in the sixth, with the RiverHawk bats limited to four hits and stuck out 16 times to Southeastern's pitching.
Ty Van Meter had NSU's lone run scoring
Matt Kaiser in from second base. Kaiser had the team's lone extra-base hit in the seventh, where NSU left the bases loaded.
Southeastern cleared the bases on a triple down the right-field line and added two insurance runs on RBI singles.
The RiverHawks would draw seven walks, with
C.D. White earning his way on three times.
Seth Stacey (0-1) went 5.1 innings and struck out five batters in his debut.
Northeastern State has a short turnaround and will face East Central (0-1) Saturday at 10 a.m.
