Late runs sink RiverHawks

EDMOND – Matt Kaiser homered and had three hits, and Isaiah Keller plated three runs, but the RiverHawks allowed Central Oklahoma to score in five consecutive innings to fall 10-7 on Tuesday evening.

The RiverHawks out-hit their rivals from Edmond 12-to-8 and fell to 10-11 overall and are now 4-6 in MIAA play.

Central Oklahoma scored two runs in the third and fourth to extend their lead to 4-2 over NSU.  It would be a four-run fifth by UCO that would be too much to overcome.  Northeastern State narrowed the gap to one with five runs scored in the sixth.  Keller cleared the bases, and Brayden Rodden hit an RBI single to center to give the RiverHawks a chance Tuesday.

However, UCO added an insurance run off a ground ball out in the bottom of the sixth and got an RBI single in the seventh to extend their lead to three.  The RiverHawks threatened in the eighth with two batters getting on base, but their final chance to eat into UCO's lead ended on a double play.

In the midweek matchup, both teams used their bullpens; the RiverHawks did not have an arm go more than two frames.

Central Oklahoma moves to 16-6 (6-4 MIAA) with the win over

The RiverHawks remain on the road to face Pittsburg State for a three-game series starting Friday.
