TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State scored six unanswered runs to get past Northwest Missouri 8-3 Sunday to earn a series win at Thomas C. Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks' offense was spread out across its lineup, with seven players recording an RBI to improve its record to 12-14 (6-9 MIAA).
Northwest Missouri (5-21, 3-12 MIAA) pulled ahead 3-2 in the sixth, scoring an unearned run on a pop-up. In the bottom half,
C.D. White pulled NSU even with the Bearcats on a single to left center.
Ty Van Meter hit the second double of the inning, scoring White in for the go-ahead run.
Isaiah Keller led the RiverHawks with three hits, one being an RBI single scoring Van Meter as part of the three-run sixth.
Blake Freeman singled through the left side in the seventh, the team's sixth run, and
Coby Tweten plated two in the eighth with his fourth homer of the season.
Lee Callison (4-2) threw 111 pitches and went six innings to earn the win.
Kyle Duffey and
Cole White tossed scoreless innings in relief.
The RiverHawks will play for the series sweep Monday at noon.
