Softball takes two in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –  Northeastern State pushed its winning streak to six Saturday, beating Evangel 7-1 and rallying late to get past Cottey College 3-2 in Springfield.

The RivreHawks have won 12 of their last 14 games, pushing their overall record to 13-5.

Chloe Bohuslavicky homered for the tenth time this season, hitting a grand slam in the fourth to cap a five-run frame for the RiverHawks.   Savannah Evans (4-2) went yard for the fourth time and spun her fourth complete game of the season.  The junior did not allow an earned run and stuck out six batters.

Northeastern State had ten hits to Evangel's five.

In the nightcap, Cottey scored a pair off a single in the opening inning and held the lead until the sixth.   Jaeden Rosenquist tied the game with a double, and Raegan Edwards followed her at-bat with the go-ahead game-winning single.

The RiverHawks stranded nine runners on base and had eight hits.

Lizzy Hall (4-0) struck out four batters in a six-inning relief appearance.

Northeastern State returns to action Sunday at 9:30 a.m. to face Minnesota Crookston at 9:30 a.m.
