#49 RiverHawks sweep Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. – Northeastern State snapped a three-match skid Friday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of Emporia State.

The sweep is the third of the season and the first against an MIAA foe in 2023, as they will move to 9-7 (4-3 MIAA) overall.

Emilia Cosatto battled back and won a split decision 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 on the main court.  Leah Gonzales-Edwards won her final two sets for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to take threes.  Alisha Moldakhmetova and Valeria Teran swept their first sets in singles.

"We had some tough conditions today with it being as hot as it's been all year and some crazy wind at times, but we got the job done," said head coach Tim McLane.

We needed to show up and perform up to our abilities today, and for the most part, we did just that.  Now we have to be able to carry that over to tomorrow and get the job done again."

Emporia State drops to 5-12, 1-6 MIAA with the loss.

The RiverHawks close out its regular season on Saturday at noon with Newman.  A win would move them to the four seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament next week.
