TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State scored runs in each inning as they made quick work of the Tigers 12-0 in seven innings Saturday for the series win.
CJ Briley tossed his first complete-game shutout of the season, striking out nine Tiger batters and allowing just a pair of hits.
The RiverHawks (16-19, 10-13 MIAA) knocked around Fort Hays' pitching for 17 hits, with seven batters having at least two base knocks.
Blake Freeman,
Isaiah Keller, and
Brayden Rodden had two RBI afternoons.
C.D. White hit a solo shot to right field in the first, and the RiverHawks chased Fort Hays' starter in the second, plating six runs. Freeman smashed his fourth homer of the year as part of the six-hit frame.
The RiverHawks scored a run in the third on a Keller RBI single,
Ty Van Meter made it a 10-0 game in the fourth, and Rodden hit a blast to left field in the fifth.
Kademon Graff swiped two bases and had NSU's 12th run during the sixth inning.
The Tigers were limited to one runner in scoring position and fell to 16-24 (6-17 MIAA).
Northeastern State returns to action Tuesday to host Central Oklahoma at 5 p.m.
