TAHLEQUAH – Central Oklahoma scored seven runs in the fifth inning and completed a three-game MIAA sweep Tuesday night of Northeastern State 8-4 at Thomas C. Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks were limited to six hits, with
Isaiah Keller and
Brayden Rodden having two. Both also hit home runs from the top part of NSU's lineup.
Central Oklahoma plated a run in the first, and it took until the third when Rodden smashed a full-count pitch over the left field wall.
NSU's lead held until the fifth, where Central sent 12 batters to the dish. Most of the damage was self-inflicted by the RiverHawks, with the Bronchos just having two hits. NSU's bullpen issued three walks, hit one batter, and the leadoff batter reached on an error.
The RiverHawks grabbed a run back in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring on a
C.D. White single, and Keller had a solo home run in the seventh.
Central Oklahoma (27-11,15-9 MIAA) batters had 11 hits and drew nine walks.
Ty Van Meter went four innings and struck out seven batters in the no-decision.
Northeastern State (16-20, 10-14 MIAA) heads to Claremore Friday to face Rogers State in continued MIAA play.
