WARRENSBURG, Mo. –
Coby Tweten homered in the first inning, and the RiverHawks never gave up the lead as the downed No. 11 ranked Missouri Southern 8-3 in the MIAA Baseball Tournament Semifinal. Northeastern State advances in the winner's bracket and will face top-seed Central Missouri Friday evening at 7 p.m. The winner of that match-up moves to the championship game on Saturday.
Tweten had three of Northeastern State's nine hits,
C.D. White had two and recorded an RBI single in the fifth for his 200th base knock in an NSU uniform. He would also blast his ninth homer of the year in the eighth inning.
NSU starter
Lee Callison was unhittable through four innings and matched his season high with eight strikeouts. The senior moved to 7-4 on the year and went seven innings.
Brady Evans collected a two-RBI double in the eighth.
Brayden Rodden and
Matt Kaiser both scored a run. Kaiser swiped two bags and has stolen eight in the previous six games.
Gage Fuller and
Cole White came out of the bullpen and did not allow a run.
Northeastern State improves to 25-26 overall and advances in the winner's bracket for the second consecutive season.
