MEMPHIS, Tenn.- A largely defensive affair was on display as No. 24 Northeastern State battled McKendree to a goalless draw Sunday afternoon. The draw is NSU's second of 2023, bringing their record to 1-1-2, while the Bearcats moved to 2-0-2 after the result.
The NSU defense delivered their second shutout of the season but was not able to connect on the offensive end. The RiverHawks were a man up on McKendree in the final 20 minutes but were not able to make a shot attempt.
Northeastern State was held to a season-low six attempts on the day, four of which were on-goal.
Ivan Lopez accounted for two of them,
Mario Sapena, and
Martin Martinez also found one on-goal attempt apiece.
The RiverHawks return to DeLoache Field on Thursday, Sep. 14 at 7 p.m. for their non-conference finale against Dallas Baptist.
