TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State took a season-high 21 shots at Northwestern Oklahoma Sunday, but they found themselves in a scoreless draw for the second consecutive match.
The RiverHawks (0-1-3) had six shots blocked by the Rangers' (1-2-1) defense with Northeastern State being the attacking team for 77 percent of the match.
NSU had a pair of shots hit the top crossbar including one from
Alexis Rodgers in the final second of the match. Rodgers finished the contest with a match-high six shots.
Northwestern's best shot to pull ahead came in the final two minutes where
Rebecca Partyka struck down a shot on the left side of the goal. The deflection nearly went in before a NSU defender cleared the ball to preserve the shutout. Partyka earned her second shutout of the year and sixth of her career.
Despite the draw, the RiverHawks preserved a streak of six consecutive shutout of the Rangers that dates back to the 2014 season.
Northeastern State remains at home to host Rogers State this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
