TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State's offense came in the opening ten minutes as they opened MIAA play with a 1-1 draw against Central Oklahoma at DeLoache Field.
Alexis Rodgers landed her first goal of the season off a bounce that was misplayed by UCO's goalkeeper. Opportunities were few and far between for NSU with just three of their 13 shots being on target.
Central (2-2-3, 0-0-1 MIAA)drew a foul inside the box in the 22nd minute and scored the equalizer on a penalty kick goal that went left of Rebecca Partyka. The Bronchos kept Partyka busy throughout the after with the sophomore recording a season-high eight saves, matching her career high.
The RiverHawks were shut out on corners for the first time since Oct. 26, 2018, by UCO in Edmond. Sunday's draw is the second consecutive for the two teams in Tahlequah and prevents the regular season sweep for the RiverHawks. They are now 2-2-4 (0-0-1 MIAA) on the year.
Northeastern State will now play its next four contests on the road starting with Emporia State on Sept. 29.
