BOLIVAR, Mo. – Northeastern State found a strong performance from their defense, notching their first shutout of the 2023 season, but the RiverHawks failed to find the back of the net across 90 minutes of action, as well, resulting in a goalless draw.
The draw is their second across the season's first three matches, putting their record at 0-1-2, while Southwest Baptist left Plaster Stadium carrying a 0-2-1 record after Thursday night's result.
In terms of securing goal-scoring opportunities, the RiverHawks got the better of their opponents. NSU limited SBU to just three attempts all night while taking 14 shots of their own. Five of those shots were on goal, while the RiverHawks also were the recipients of ten corner kicks.
Whitney Gentry,
Olivia Kucharyski,
Abagayle Barnes, and
Fran Badillo all logged multiple attempts, while goalkeeper
Rebecca Partyka made a pair of saves, getting in front of both of SBU's on-goal attempts.
The RiverHawks return to DeLoache Field on Sunday, Sep. 10 at 1 p.m. to face Northwestern Oklahoma.
