TAHLEQUAH –
Courtney Lee struck for 17 points for a second consecutive contest as Northeastern State re-entered the win column with a 67-54 win over Lincoln Saturday afternoon.
After taking a 22-15 losing result with the first quarter concluded, the RiverHawks (9-8, 5-6 MIAA) never let the Blue Tigers (6-11, 2-9 MIAA) score above 15 in a single period and held Lincoln to 9-of-40 (22.5%) the final 30 minutes en route to the double-digit result.
In a strong team effort on the offensive end, six NSU players scored at least eight, while the team kept a similar intensity on the defensive side with 11 steals, led by three from
Madina Camara and
Tor'e Alford.
Lee's 17 marked the 12th time the junior has reached double figures this season and the seventh time in her last eight contests. She also nearly reached a double-double by grabbing eight misses while also adding four assists with a steal.
Halie Jones wasn't far behind with 15 points with two converted three-point attempts.
NSU's win is their ninth of the season, placing them one away from claiming double-digit wins for the first time since the 2017-18 season. Their seventh home victory makes it their most since the 2014-15 campaign.
