JOPLIN, Mo. – Five players reached double figures, led by 19 points on the night from
Ethan Blackmon and 18 from
Trey Quartlebaum to guide Northeastern State to their second straight road win with a 79-72 victory over Missouri Southern Wednesday evening.
NSU was booming in the first half behind 17 from Quartlebaum in the game's opening frame to take a 43-27 result to the break. Quartlebaum finished the period off with a three-point conversion at the horn.
Anthony Allen went four-of-five to begin the first 20 minutes in double figures with ten points.
Blackmon's 12 points in the second half helped keep the RiverHawks in charge the entirety of the final stanza of the midweek game. The lone player to see minutes off the bench, he also led the team in rebounding (ten) to secure his first double-double as an NSU player.
Keon Edwards had his second straight 16-point performance and found some late-game explosiveness to ice the contest in the team's favor with seven points in the game's final two minutes.
Allen ended with 12 and
Seth Pratt finished the game with 11 to enter double figures.
Jaxon Jones had a pair of steals with four assists and finished second on the team with eight rebounds.
Northeastern State ends the month with an away meeting against Pittsburg State on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
