BETHANY, Okla. - Northeastern State pushed No. 17 Southern Nazarene to the brink on Saturday evening, but a goal in the 74th minute landed the RiverHawks in a 2-2 draw. The tie is the third consecutive, and NSU moves to 2-6-6 (2-3-3 GAC/MIAA) overall.
Javier Solis put the RiverHawks up in the 31st minute with his second career goal and first in over a season. NSU's advantage held through the half until SNU's Unaiz Shajani landed this 13th of the year to pull even in the 54th minute.Â
In the 66th minute,
Donovan Aparicio picked up a pass from
Braxton Bulman, and the pair connected for a go-ahead goal. Aparicio netted his second of the season, but it would take the Crimson Storm eight minutes to pull back even again.Â
The RiverHawks had a 12-to-11 shots-on-goal advantage on SNU who moved to 8-3-4 (5-1-3 GAC/MIAA).
Saturday's draw halted a seven-match span that was in favor of Southern Nazarene and the sixth draw for NSU matched a program high that was last set in 2006.
Northeastern State returns to Tahlequah to host Fort Hays State on Thursday evening to open a three-match homestand.
