HAYS, Kan. -- Ivan Lopez landed a goal in the opening minute but the RiverHawks suffered a 6-1 loss Saturday at No. 21 Fort Hays State. Northeastern State dropped to 2-5-3 overall and is now 2-2 in GAC/MIAA play.
The senior scored his second of the season in the 26th second of the contest to put Northeastern State up early. NSU's lead lasted for just seven minutes and Fort Hays State got an equalizer. The Tigers scored the eventual match-winner in the 14th minute with Lopez's goal being the lone shot attempt in the first half.
Fort Hays State added two more goals in the second half as they moved to 4-3-1, 1-2 GAC. The Tigers outshot the RiverHawks 17-to-4 and had ten shots on goal to NSU's two.
The RiverHawks return home to host Southern Nazarene on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
