Sydney Taylor guided Northeastern State to a 3-1 win over Pittsburg State on Sunday with her fourth multi-goal outing. The RiverHawks improved to 8-2 (2-2 MIAA) following their inaugural women's soccer meeting with the Gorillas. Northeastern State claimed their sixth consecutive victory at home and outshot the Gorillas 11-to-4 in the opening half.
The RiverHawks scored on their first attack of the match and Taylor got past a diving Pitt State keeper for her second goal of the season.
Whitney Gentry dished out the pass to Taylor in the third minute of the contest.
Brooke Dodd extended the lead out to two with her first goal of the year in the 33rd minute. The freshman was making just her fourth appearance of the season.
Josie Jarvis was credited with her first assist of the season and her third at NSU.
Taylor re-emerged with another score in the second half, landing her third goal of the campaign and her 15th with the program.
Pittsburg State avoided its fourth shutout of the season with an 88th-minute goal, while the three goals allowed were a first for the program. The Gorillas dropped to 4-4-2 and 0-2-2 MIAA with the loss.
Northeastern State will be in action just one time next week on Friday when they will go to Missouri Western.
