Alex Hill and
Courtney Lee had 17 points as Northeastern State held off Haskell Indian Nations 77-63 on Thursday evening. The win snapped a three-game skid to start the season and claimed its seventh consecutive triumph on their home floor.
Northeastern State (1-3) never trailed but Haskell (3-7) trimmed a 15-point deficit down to four points with 7:43 left in the fourth quarter. Strong 10-for-13 shooting in the final stanza lifted the RiverHawks with Hill scoring 11 points in that period.
Deyanna Douglas had double-figure scoring for the second consecutive day with 12 points off the bench and five rebounds.
Emily Weathers added 11 and
Brennan Kirchhoff scored nine and was tied for the team-high with seven boards.
Grace Abercrombie dished out a career-high nine assists and had seven rebounds.
The RiverHawks struggled at the arc making four of their 26 attempts but shot 44.9 percent (31-69) and out-rebounded Haskell 53-to-35.
Haskell had three players in double-figures with Tierzah Penn leading them with 14 points.
Northeastern State moves to 3-0 all-time against Haskell and will remain home to host Henderson State on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m.
