Men's Soccer plays Newman to a 1-1 draw

TAHLEQUAH – Donovan Aparicio scored an equalizer for Northeastern State in the 51st minute but they would draw for the seventh time this season 1-1 to Newman on Saturday.   

The senior landed this third goal of the season and has tallied a point in the last three matches for the RiverHawks who are now 2-7-7 (2-4-4 GAC/MIAA) overall. 

Both teams matched each other with 12 shots, and the RiverHawks had a 6-to-5 edge on shots-on-goal.  Assanie Brown paced the squad with four shot attempts.

Newman scored early in the contest on a kick off a corner in the 15th minute.  The draw moved the Jets to 8-7-1 (5-4-1 GAC/MIAA) as they snapped a three-match road winless skid.

Gonzalo Castells made four saves at goal.  The team will wrap up its home schedule on Thursday with a 7 p.m. match against Rogers State.
