TAHLEQUAH – Isaiah Keller had two hits, including a homer, and swiped as many bags in a 6-2 Northeastern State triumph over Southern Nazarene Saturday afternoon at Rousey Field. The win is NSU's fourth straight and completes a three-game sweep of the Crimson Storm in their home opening series.
After scoring 35 runs in a Friday doubleheader with SNU (3-4), the RiverHawks (4-4) picked up where they left off with a three-run first, with runs batted in by Keller, Matt Kaiser and C.D. White. Notably, the RBI marked White's 13th of the series.
The RiverHawks extended the lead to five with a solo shot from Keller for his first home run of the season alongside a sacrifice fly to drive in Coby Tweten to tally the 14th RBI of the series for White. The Crimson Storm scored two of their own in the top of the sixth to allow a save situation for Cole White, who completed the game by pitching a scoreless final 3.2 innings.
Grant Parr pitched three scoreless in his second start, while Jacob Bowman claimed his first win of the season behind 2.1 pitched in place of Parr.
Northeastern State will be back at Rousey Field with a midweek date with Southeastern Oklahoma, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
