Gorillas take Thursday night matchup over RiverHawks

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State fell in game one of a three-game series to Pittsburg State in a 17-4 setback Thursday at Rousey Field.

The RiverHawks (15-17, 6-12 MIAA) saw their offensive attack largely held in check for the encounter, as the team was kept from registering their first base hit until the fifth. It was at that stage of the game where they found some resistance against the Gorillas (22-9, 13-5 MIAA), as two runs scored in that frame with two more making it home in the seventh off an Isaiah Keller home run.

The late offense fell well short of making up a large deficit that the hosts had dug themselves into, as PSU scored eight in the first inning and were not held scoreless in an inning until the fifth, of which they had already built up a 15-0 advantage. 

Grant Parr was pinned with his first loss of 2024 in his second start of the campaign, with Parr being one of five pitchers to see the mound Thursday evening. Drake Sisemore had the most productive outing across the staff, accounting for four of the team's five strikeouts during the contest.

Game two emanates from Rousey Field at 5 p.m. Friday night.
