BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Northeastern State ended the 2024 season with an 18-1 defeat from Washburn, wrapping up a series relocated from Tahlequah due to weather.
During pregame Senior Day festivities, eight seniors were recognized, as Matt Kaiser, Drew Miller, C.D. White, Ian Mason, Grant Parr, Cristofer Hernandez, Jacob Bowman and Coby Tweten suited up for the final time in their NSU careers.
The RiverHawks fell victim to another strong afternoon of offense by the Ichabods (29-19, 21-12 MIAA), with the visiting squad posting 18 runs on 16 base hits. The fourth and fifth saw Washburn do significant amounts of damage, with ten runs scoring across the stanzas.
NSU's lone score came from the bat of C.D. White in the bottom of the sixth, with the senior providing an RBI single in his final collegiate at-bat. Korben Ford was the recipient of the assist from White, not long after providing NSU with their lone extra base hit of the contest with a double.
Matt Kaiser finished a strong second half of the year with another base hit in the matchup, extending his streak to 14 games to wrap up his collegiate career.
White was dealt the loss on the mound, but accounted for two of the staff's three strikeouts, with Bowman adding the third in the top half of the seventh inning.
The RiverHawks close the season at 20-30 overall, while earning 11 wins in MIAA play. The group laid claim to a winning record at home, going 14-10 in matchups held at Thomas C. Rousey Field on the NSU campus.
