Baseball drops midweek meeting to Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. -- Northeastern State struggled to find a rhythm offensively, limited to two hits in a 2-1 Tuesday loss to #19 Central Oklahoma at Wendell Simmons Field.

The matchup saw UCO pitcher Dax Sharp throw six innings and receive no earned runs tagged against him. For the first 5.1 innings, Sharp did not surrender a base hit to the RiverHawks, though the no-hit attempt was broken up by Matt Kaiser in the sixth. Kaiser went on to record NSU's only other hit of the day later on, while the team's lone run scored in the top of the sixth due to an infield error from the hosts.

Northeastern State got a strong start from Cole White, as the senior made it through most of the ballgame and allowed only three hits and two runs in five innings of action. White recorded four strikeouts, while Gage Fuller and Wes Strand only allowed one hit combined over the rest of the contest in relief.

The RiverHawks drop to 19-20 overall and 10-14 in conference play with the loss, their third to the Bronchos this season. The 19th-ranked Bronchos advance to 30-9 and 16-8 in the league.

Northeastern State battles Missouri Southern Friday through Sunday at Rousey Field, with first pitch for the opener set for 6 p.m.
