TAHLEQUAH --
Sydney Taylor scored her first goal of the season in the 66th minute, while
Rebecca Partyka's third shutout of 2024 allowed Northeastern State to down Oklahoma Baptist in a 1-nil win Wednesday evening. The win gives NSU their first 3-0 start since 2019.
After a scoreless first half, which saw its main highlight emerge in the form of Partyka's 100th career save at NSU, Taylor slid past OBU (0-2) with a goal nearly three-quarters into the contest. The hosts held the result to the finish, with the reigning MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week defending all three total on-goal tries from the Bison across the matchup.
The RiverHawks more than doubled OBU's shot output at 12-5, also finding on-goal attempts from
Hannah Anderson,
Olivia Kucharyski and
Brynn Baldon. The whistle additionally played a key role in the contest, with the Bison being charged with 15 fouls against NSU's seven.Â
Northeastern State travels to face Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday, Sep. 15.
