EMPORIA, Kan. -- Northeastern State snapped a three-match scoreless streak and earned its first win at Emporia State since 2017 with a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon at ESU Pitch.
The RiverHawks (7-5-1, 2-4-1 MIAA) wasted no time ending their offensive drought when
Michaela Williamson scored in the 5th minute off an assist from
Sydney Taylor. Taylor added a goal of her own just three minutes into the second half, extending NSU's lead to 2-0.
Emporia State (7-4-2, 4-1-2 MIAA) cut the margin to one in the 64th minute on Hailey Gancarz's goal, but goalkeeper
Rebecca Partyka kept the Hornets from equalizing with six saves to preserve the win.
Northeastern State managed eight total shots, putting five on goal, while Emporia State fired 22 shots, including nine on target.
The RiverHawks return home to face Central Oklahoma on Friday, Oct. 24, in Tahlequah.
