JOPLIN, Mo. —
Hannah Anderson scored in the ninth minute and Northeastern State rolled to a 3-0 shutout over Missouri Southern State on Friday at Hal Bodon Field.
Anderson's strike, her fifth career goal, set the tone early for the RiverHawks (6-2-1, 1-1-1 MIAA).
Brooke Dodd added a tally in the 38th minute and
Jaclyn Barritt capped the scoring in the 82nd, giving NSU three different goal scorers on the day.
Goalkeepers
Rebecca Partyka and
Juliette Langlet combined for five saves and the clean sheet, with Partyka stopping five shots in more than 81 minutes of work. The Lions (2-4-3, 0-1-2) were limited to five shots on goal, all turned away by NSU's defense.
The win was NSU's eighth straight over Missouri Southern and showcased the RiverHawks' dominance in the season series. Across two meetings this fall, Northeastern State outshot the Lions by a combined 56-26 margin.
The victory also marked the RiverHawks' first conference win of the year.
Northeastern State remains on the road Sunday, visiting Pittsburg State at 1 p.m. in another MIAA matchup.
