Taylor’s early goal lifts Northeastern State past Nebraska-Kearney, 1-0

KEARNEY, Neb. -- Sydney Taylor scored in the 14th minute, and Northeastern State made it stand in a 1-0 win over Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

Taylor headed in a cross from Hannah Anderson for the match's only goal, giving the RiverHawks (10-6-1, 5-5-1 MIAA) the victory and clinching a spot in the MIAA Tournament for the 14th consecutive season.

Goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka earned the shutout with one save as NSU notched its third consecutive shutout overall and fifth straight shutout of the Lopers (3-9-4, 1-6-4). The RiverHawks' defense has now gone more than 270 minutes without allowing a goal.

Northeastern State held an 11-5 advantage in total shots and 8-5 in corner kicks.

The RiverHawks will close out the regular season Wednesday, hosting rival Rogers State at 7 p.m. in Tahlequah.
