Taylor scores and assists in shutout victory in home finale

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State women's soccer landed on the board early and never looked back, leading for almost the full time in a 3-0 victory over Rogers State on Wednesday night on the final day of the regular season.

Under the lights in her final home match at DeLoache Field, Sydney Taylor landed her ninth goal of the season and her 26th with the program in the opening minute, giving the hosts an early advantage. Though they were shut out the rest of the half, the RiverHawks (11-6-1, 6-5-1 MIAA) held the Hillcats (2-8-7, 2-6-4 MIAA) to just two shots in the first 45 minutes of action.

NSU would muster nine more tries on the night to bring their shot output to 18, finding conversions from Hannah Anderson in the 52nd minute and Annabella Trotter in the 56th to place the match out of reach for the visitors. Trotter's make would be assisted by Taylor, marking the senior's 12th career assist.

The RiverHawks would go on to keep RSU from finding an on-target attempt across the night, clinching their fourth straight shutout win in advance of the conference postseason.

Northeastern State competes next in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament, facing the conference's regular season champions in Pittsburg State on the road on Sunday at 1 p.m.
