RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Madison Heinle struck out nine batters in the nightcap but Northeastern State was shut out twice at Arkansas Tech on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Suns took game one 8-0 in five innings and 1-0 in the second contest.
Sunday's games were a late addition to the schedule with the pair originally scheduled to meet in Shawnee.
The Golden Suns (8-7) struck out eight batters and scored runs in the first and second before plating five in the fourth to take the first game.
In the nightcap, the RiverHawks were limited to two hits, both of which happened in the second inning of game two off the bats of Korynn Tindel and Taylor Nichols.
Arkansas Tech scored the game's lone run in the opening inning.
The RiverHawks drop to 5-7 overall and head to Durant on Monday for a doubleheader with Southeastern.
