TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State couldn't keep pace with Missouri Western's sharp shooting, falling 96-74 on Saturday in their final game at the NSU Event Center.
The RiverHawks (10-16, 6-11 MIAA) struggled defensively as the Griffons (17-8, 12-5 MIAA) knocked down 16 three-pointers and shot 50% (31-of-62) from the field. Despite a strong second half, NSU couldn't overcome an early deficit.
Alex Hill led the RiverHawks with a season-high 27 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Deyanna Douglas added 14 points and three rebounds, while
Courtney Lee contributed eight points and a team-high eight boards.
Missouri Western took control early, scoring 29 first-quarter points and building a 48-30 halftime lead. The Griffons were fueled by Alyssa Bonilla's double-double of 26 points and 10 assists. Laura Toffali and Kassandra Caron each scored 18 points, combining for seven three-pointers.
The RiverHawks shot 39% (22-of-56) and was sent to the free-throw line 32 times.
Northeastern State will look to bounce back on Wednesday when it visits Rogers State.
