Northeastern State couldn't overcome a sixth-inning surge from Drury, falling 7-3 in Saturday's doubleheader opener at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (10-14) struck early with two runs in the first inning but were held to just one additional run the rest of the way.
Diego Murillo went 2-for-4 with two singles, while
Mason Ruiz added an RBI groundout in the fourth inning to account for NSU's scoring.
Drury (14-11) broke a 3-3 tie with a three-run sixth inning and added an insurance run in the seventh. The Panthers collected nine hits, including four doubles and two home runs, capitalizing on NSU's two errors and three hit batters.
Braxton Jones (4-2) took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs over 6.2 innings while striking out four.
GAME TWO | Drury 11, Northeastern State 4Â
A big second inning from Drury proved too much for Northeastern State, as the RiverHawks fell 11-4 in Saturday's doubleheader finale.
The Panthers (15-11) erupted for eight runs in the second inning, capitalizing on timely hits and Northeastern State miscues. Drury totaled 15 hits, including three home runs and two doubles, to power its offense.
Northeastern State (10-15) scored four runs on eight hits.
Austin Albright led the way with a solo home run and an RBI double, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Jackson Dillingham also homered, while
Diego Murillo collected two hits and scored once.
Murphy Bostick (1-2) took the loss for NSU, allowing eight runs—seven earned—over 1.1 innings.
