Northeastern State Shut Out by Drury, 6-0, in Series Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Northeastern State struggled to capitalize offensively and fell 6-0 to Drury in Sunday's series finale at Mark Worley Field.

The RiverHawks (10-16) managed seven hits but left seven runners on base and were held scoreless for the second time this season. Drury (16-11) used a four-run third inning to break the game open and kept control behind strong pitching and timely hitting.

Northeastern State had scoring chances early but couldn't string hits together. Caleb Reynolds led the RiverHawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Jackson Dillingham, Diego Murillo, Finley Bunch, Mason Ruiz, and Kade Norman each added a hit for NSU, but the offense lacked the key hit with runners in scoring position.

Starter Sullivan Lane (0-2) took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on three hits while walking five and hitting five batters. The Drury offense capitalized on free passes and defensive pressure, adding a run in the seventh to secure the shutout.

NSU's bullpen combined for three innings of relief. Jackson Hill pitched two innings, surrendering one run, while Murphy Bostick worked a clean eighth inning, retiring the side on five pitches and inducing a double play.

Northeastern State will look to regroup as they head to Shawnee on Tuesday to face Oklahoma Baptist.
