RiverHawks Fall Twice at UCO

GAME ONE | Central Oklahoma 11, Northeastern State 3

Northeastern State fell 11-3 in six innings to No. 10 Central Oklahoma in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

The RiverHawks (10-21, 4-7 MIAA) took an early 3-2 lead in the third inning, fueled by an RBI double from Maddie Messenger and a two-run single by Madison Heinle. NSU totaled seven hits in the contest but couldn't hold back Central Oklahoma's offense.

The Bronchos (24-4, 6-1 MIAA) responded with two runs in the third and broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by a bases-loaded double from Ariah Mitchell. Central Oklahoma tallied 14 hits, including six doubles, and capitalized on two Northeastern State errors.

Korynn Tindel (0-4) took the loss in the circle going 1.1 innings in a relief appearance. 

Lauryn Heinle and Drew Hawkins each added a hit and a run scored for NSU, while Olivia Brown chipped in with a single.

GAME TWO | Central Oklahoma 8, Northeastern State 0 

Northeastern State was held hitless in an 8-0, six-inning loss in the nightcap.

The RiverHawks (10-22, 4-8 MIAA) struggled offensively, with Central Oklahoma's Terin Ritz tossing a no-hitter, striking out four and facing the minimum through six innings. NSU committed two errors defensively and couldn't capitalize at the plate.

The Bronchos (25-4, 7-1 MIAA) jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding runs in every frame but the fourth. Ritz also starred offensively, going 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI.

Madison Heinle (4-9) took the loss for NSU, allowing six runs (four earned) over four innings. Ryleigh Peters pitched the final 1.1 innings in relief.
