PITTSBURG, Kan. — Northeastern State wrapped up a series at Pittsburg State with a 13-7 loss to the Gorillas on Sunday.
The RiverHawks (10-21, 7-10 MIAA) surrendered eight runs in the opening inning to PSU (22-7, 12-7 MIAA). The visitors would be shut out across the game's first four innings and later unable to fully catch up to the hosts despite posting their highest run total (seven) and hit total (13) on the series. NSU scored in each of the last five innings in the loss, including back-to-back multi-score efforts in the sixth and seventh.
Austin Albright led the team with three base hits, while four different NSU individuals provided two hits apiece. Mason Ruiz homered in the loss, which was assigned to Sullivan Lane after allowing PSU's first four scores in his second start of the campaign.
NSU travels to face Arkansas-Fort Smith on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before hosting Northwest Missouri for a three-game series, beginning Friday.
