RiverHawks Fall to Emporia State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State tallied 15 hits, but Emporia State scored 17 unanswered runs en route to an 18-4 win over the RiverHawks in Friday's doubleheader opener at Thomas C. Rousey Field.

Gage Williams extended his hitting streak to five games, while Caleb Reynolds, Xavier Sanchez and Holden Yoder each recorded two hits. Mason Ruiz reached base three times, drawing a pair of walks.

NSU remained off the scoreboard until the fifth inning, when it plated four runs. Finley Bunch broke the shutout with an RBI single to shortstop.

Murphy Bostick tossed two scoreless innings in relief as the fourth pitcher used. Braxton Jones (4-6) took the loss after going 2 1/3 innings.

Emporia State improved to 20-19 overall and 13-15 in MIAA play. The RiverHawks dropped to 12-30 and 9-19 in the league.
