Northeastern State edges Lubbock Christian 1-0 behind Adams, McColloch

LUBBOCK, Texas – Carter Adams scored early in the second half and goalkeeper Cameron McColloch recorded his first career shutout as Northeastern State edged Lubbock Christian 1-0 on Thursday night at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.

Adams broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, netting his second goal of the season. The sophomore forward provided the only offense the RiverHawks would need, as McColloch stood tall in goal with six saves, including four in the opening half.

Lubbock Christian (1-2) applied consistent pressure, outshooting Northeastern State 16-8 and earning five corner kicks, but could not break through.

McColloch denied Joao Catafesta and Manu Nunez on close-range efforts to preserve the clean sheet.

The RiverHawks (1-1-1) generated five shots on target, with Martin Martinez testing Chaparrals goalkeeper Connor Pettigrew three times. Pettigrew finished with four saves.

Northeastern State continues its non-conference slate on the road on Saturday evening at MSU-Texas.
