Four different RiverHawks land goals in win over Lions

TAHLEQUAH -- Four different players scored for Northeastern State as they knocked off Missouri Southern in their non-conference finale in a 4-2 win.

The offense sparked in the first ten minutes of both halves, with Brooke Dodd landing her first goal of the campaign off of a Hannah Anderson assist in the fifth minute to open up the scoring. Lilly Burkhardt would find her first career goal in the tenth minute to give NSU a multi-score lead.

The RiverHawks (5-1) took a 2-0 lead to intermission and returned with a pair of quick scores in the 48th and 52nd minutes, respectively. Olivia Burnes got on the board off a Sydney Taylor assist for her second goal of the fall, while Taylor was true on her fourth.

The Lions (2-3-1) would find two goals of their own just over two minutes apart in the 59th and 61st minutes to cut the NSU lead in half, but they couldn't further break the deficit down. The win marks NSU's 22nd in the series with MSSU, while keeping their unbeaten mark in DeLoache Field across 14 home matches against the Lions intact.

The RiverHawks were the aggressors on offense for much of the afternoon, out-shooting the Lions with over triple the output (31-to-10) amd logging 11 shots on-goal. NSU also earned seven of the match's eight corner kicks.

Northeastern State continues the homestand with their conference opener against Central Missouri on Friday at 7 p.m.
