Women's Soccer travels to Washburn for MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State women's soccer travels to Washburn for the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon.

The RiverHawks (8-7-3) qualified as the tournament's No. 8 seed and will face the top seed for the second straight season. Sunday's winner will play the winner of the Central Oklahoma-Emporia State match at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas, on Nov. 6. Last season, Northeastern State took the top seed in Pittsburg State for its fifth trip to the semifinal.

Washburn (13-1-3) needed a 3-0 win Wednesday over Newman to clinch the MIAA regular season title for the fifth time. The Ichabods scored three unanswered goals after Annabelle Trotter gave NSU an early lead in the 21st minute. Washburn outshot NSU 27-to-6 in Topeka.

In Topeka, the series is even at 3-3-1, with Washburn winning the three most recent meetings. Northeastern State leads the series 7-5-3 over the Ichabods.

Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
