TAHLEQUAH – The Northeastern State men's soccer team will travel to Hays, Kansas, on Thursday to play Rogers State in the first round of the GAC/MIAA Tournament.

The RiverHawks (7-9-1) climbed the standings in the final weekend of the regular season by beating Ouachita Baptist and Harding, tying Rogers State for second place. Rogers State earned the tiebreaker after drawing with top-seeded Fort Hays State.

The Hillcats (9-4-5) have scored only three goals in their last six matches and have a 1-1-4 record in that stretch. Each team won on the other's home field during the regular season, and they have faced each other twice before in the GAC/MIAA Tournament, in 2019 and spring 2021.

Carter Adams and Harry Tremblez are tied for fourth in the league with five goals each. Adams is also fifth overall with 13 points, and Miguel Carrasquinho ranks second with 2.76 shots per game.

Thursday's game starts at 6 p.m. The winner will move on to play either Fort Hays State or Southern Nazarene in the championship game on Saturday.
