Sixth Inning Surge Lifts Truman Past NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State dropped a 6-2 decision to Truman on Thursday afternoon at Rousey Field.

The RiverHawks (3-3) matched Truman early, but a three-run sixth inning proved to be the difference.

Truman (1-0) opened the scoring in the top of the third, but Northeastern State answered in the bottom half. Tregan Hyder singled to center and stole second before Trout He drove him in with a single up the middle to tie the game at 1-1 .

After the Bulldogs regained the lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly, Truman broke the game open in the sixth. The Bulldogs used a triple and an RBI single to spark the inning, then capitalized on a RiverHawks error to extend the advantage to 5-1 .

NSU responded in the bottom of the sixth. Stephen Osborne singled and later scored on a play that included an error, trimming the deficit to 5-2 . However, Truman added a solo home run in the seventh to account for the final margin .

Osborne led Northeastern State at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double. He and Trout He each recorded two hits as the RiverHawks totaled eight on the afternoon .

Bryce Parlin (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits across five innings . NSU pitchers combined for nine strikeouts in the contest .
