TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Oklahoma Baptist used a seven-run second inning to pull away from Northeastern State and went on to a 12-7 victory Friday afternoon.
The RiverHawks (7-4) scored in each of the first three innings and led briefly before the Bison's big second inning shifted momentum.
NSU opened the scoring in the first when
Korynn Tindel doubled and later scored on a wild pitch. After Oklahoma Baptist tied it on a solo home run by Greenlee Wells, the RiverHawks regained the lead in the second on a two-run single from
Mattison Hamilton.
Oklahoma Baptist (12-2) answered with seven runs in the bottom half of the second, highlighted by a grand slam from Wells. The Bison added three more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.
Northeastern State pulled within 8-5 in the third on a three-run home run from
Annsleigh Morris. Morris finished with three RBI, while
Mia Sarwinski had two hits and Tindel added a double.
Jensyn Elder (5-3) took the loss after allowing eight runs in 1 2/3 innings. The RiverHawks totaled eight hits in the setback.
