TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State watched a four-run lead disappear in the seventh inning as Truman State erupted for seven runs to claim a 7-5 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks (4-4) carried a 4-0 advantage into the final frame after home runs from
Trout He and
Jaxon Gregory in the fifth. He's blast to left opened the scoring in the inning before Gregory followed with a two-run shot to extend the lead. Northeastern State added an earlier run in the first when
Stephen Osborne doubled to left field to score
Klete Finley.
Truman (2-1) capitalized on defensive miscues in the seventh. Four RiverHawk errors in the inning led to seven runs, all unearned, as the Bulldogs turned a 4-0 deficit into a 7-4 lead. Nick Steurer delivered a key RBI double during the rally.
Xavier Sanchez helped spark the RiverHawks late, driving in Finley with a seventh-inning single to cut the deficit to two. Northeastern State brought the tying run to the plate but could not complete the comeback.
The RiverHawks finished with seven hits, led by Osborne's two-hit performance, but were undone by four errors in the loss.
