TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State dropped a tough 17-4 decision to Central Missouri on Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks (4-8, 0-3 MIAA) were unable to keep pace with the Mules (11-2, 3-0 MIAA), who erupted for four runs in the third inning, followed by additional runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. Central Missouri finished with 17 runs on 14 hits.
Despite the score, the RiverHawks showed resilience. In the third inning,
Xavier Sanchez drove in
Chase Hamilton with a single to put NSU on the board. The RiverHawks then rallied in the fifth with a three-run homer from
Jaxon Gregory, his third of the season, cutting the deficit to 6-4. However, the Mules answered with a strong offensive performance to close out the game.
Izac Sizemore (0-1) took the loss, pitching four innings with six earned runs. Gregory led the offense with a 1-for-4 performance, including the three-run home run.
Northeastern State will look to bounce back next Tuesday, February 24, when they host Oklahoma Baptist at 2 p.m.
