TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State jumped out to an early lead but could not keep pace with Oklahoma Baptist in a 22-10 loss Tuesday at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (4-9) scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from
Xavier Sanchez and an RBI hit from
Jake Woodring to take a 5-2 advantage.
After Oklahoma Baptist answered with seven runs in the third and six more in the fourth, NSU battled back in the bottom of the third.
Jaxon Gregory delivered a two-run double before
Jackson Dillingham capped the rally with a two-run home run to pull the RiverHawks within 11-10.
Dillingham finished with two hits and two RBI, while Gregory added two hits and three RBI in the loss.
Oklahoma Baptist pulled away late with runs in each of the final three innings.
Northeastern State will open a three-game series at Missouri Southern on Feb. 27 in Joplin.
