ADA – Northeastern State needed only five innings to make its point Tuesday afternoon.
The RiverHawks exploded for six runs in the second inning and rolled past East Central 10-0 in a run-rule victory at Ada, improving to 9-7 on the season.
Korynn Tindel continued her torrid stretch at the plate, homering for the third consecutive game. The junior third baseman launched a solo shot to center in the first inning to open the scoring, then delivered the knockout blow in the second with a three-run blast to center as part of a four-RBI day.
Northeastern State (9-7) wasted no time seizing control. After Tindel's first-inning homer, the RiverHawks sent 10 batters to the plate in the second.
Mia Sarwinski drove in a run with a single,
Mattison Hamilton followed with a two-run double to left, and Tindel capped the inning with her second home run of the game, pushing the lead to 7-0.
Hamilton finished 2 for 3 with three RBI, while
Jersey Retzloff added a two-run double in the fifth to extend the advantage to 10-0.
In the circle, Jensyn Elder tossed two scoreless innings before Tindel (1-0) earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit over three shutout frames. The RiverHawks limited East Central (3-13) to two hits and struck out four.
The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
