Pair Homers Twice as RiverHawks Fall to Rogers State

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State hit three home runs Saturday afternoon, but Rogers State pulled away for a 17-5 win in MIAA play at Rousey Field.

The Hillcats struck early with a run in the first inning, but NSU answered immediately when Klete Finley led off the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to left field to tie the game at 1-1.

Rogers State built a 5-1 lead in the second before the RiverHawks responded with their biggest swing of the day. After Stephen Osborne was hit by a pitch and Carson Miller walked, Chance Pair launched a three-run homer to left field to pull Northeastern State within 5-4.

The Hillcats regained control over the next few innings, scoring in the third and adding three more in the fourth to extend their advantage. Rogers State then broke the game open with an eight-run fifth inning.

Pair provided another highlight for the RiverHawks in the seventh inning, blasting his second home run of the game to left field. His two homers accounted for four RBI and were part of three home runs for Northeastern State in the contest.

Northeastern State (7-17, 2-10 MIAA) will return to action Tuesday, March 17, when the RiverHawks travel to face UA–Fort Smith.
