Baseball dominates UAFS in 13-3 road win

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Northeastern State claimed a dominant midweek league win over Arkansas-Fort Smith, earning a 13-3 decision from Crowder Field on Tuesday.

The RiverHawks (8-17, 3-10 MIAA) picked up their first true road win of the Kyle Williams era behind three big innings on the offensive end. After plating four runs in the first, NSU would pounce again in the seventh with three more before finishing off the Lions (4-18, 3-10 MIAA) with a conclusive six-run outburst in the eighth. UAFS would also score in three different innings but would not find multiple runs in any individual frame.

Jackson Dillingham led NSU with four RBI across two hits. He would be one of four to drive in multiple runs and one of five for the RiverHawks to log multiple hits. Dillingham and Jaxon Gregory each homered in the eighth inning, with the long ball marking one of a team-high three base hits for Gregory. Izac Sizemore struck out seven across five innings en route to a winning start.

Northeastern State returns home for a series against MoWest, beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
