TAHLEQUAH --
Madison Nance hit her seventh home run of the season in the form of a first inning grand slam to send Northeastern State past No. 17 Oklahoma Baptist in a 5-1 decision to complete game one of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The RiverHawks (25-17) brought their 2026 total to equal that of the 2024 and 2025 seasons combined, while the win also marked their first against OBU since Mar. 4, 2001.
The opening saw an explosion of offense from NSU, starting with an
Annsleigh Morris RBI to send
Emily Carpenter across home plate. Nance's grand slam immediately after brought the advantage to five, an amount that OBU (34-9) would only chip away at with a single run in the fifth inning from a walk on loaded bases.
Brooke Wyatt earned the win after a four-inning start in the circle, while
Jensyn Elder grabbed the save after three scoreless innings in relief. Seven different players had a base hit for NSU in the triumph, with
Mia Sarwinski leading the way in a two-hit performance.
Game two concludes Tuesday's action at RiverHawks Park.
