EDMOND, Okla. -- Northeastern State dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 35 Central Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon in MIAA women's tennis action.
The RiverHawks (10-7, 3-3 MIAA) were unable to secure the doubles point, falling in all three matches to open the contest. Central Oklahoma (13-3, 5-1 MIAA) carried that momentum into singles play to clinch the dual.
Daisy Barrow highlighted the day for Northeastern State, earning a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 7-5 win over a ranked opponent. The win marked her first over a ranked singles foe this season. Barrow has also been dominant in doubles play, improving to 5-0 at the No. 2 position.
Laura Mertens added the other point for the RiverHawks, battling to a three-set win at No. 4 singles.
The RiverHawks will now move on to Saturday afternoon as they travel to Wichita, Kansas, to face Newman.
