PITTSBURG, Kan. — Northeastern State was unable to overcome an early surge from No. 2 Pittsburg State, falling 10-4 as the Gorillas completed a series sweep Friday in MIAA softball action.
The RiverHawks (26-19, 11-11 MIAA) tallied seven hits in the contest, highlighted by
Ashlynn Turner, who homered and doubled to lead the offense.
Peyton Watson also added a solo home run in the second inning.
Pittsburg State (41-2, 13-1 MIAA) responded with a balanced offensive attack, producing five doubles and two home runs. Five different players recorded multi-hit games, with Lexi Davis driving in four runs to pace the Gorillas.
Northeastern State used three pitchers in the circle, with
Brooke Wyatt taking the loss.
The RiverHawks will look to regroup as they travel to Oklahoma Christian for a midweek matchup Tuesday.
